The Swiss Evaluation Society’s standards (SEVAL Standards ) define the key principles that serve to strengthen the credibility and quality of evaluations.

The SEVAL Standards serve as a basis and support for the planning and implementation of evaluations, the development of mandates, calls for tender, evaluation contracts and agreements. SEVAL Standards are a reference for quality monitoring throughout the evaluation as well as for judging the quality of an ex-post evaluation. They are also a didactic resource for professional and continuing education in the evaluation field. They are therefore addressed to all those who are involved in an evaluation or who influence it in some way: evaluators, commissioner, and any others involved, particularly those who follow, evaluate and/or use evaluations.

The SEVAL Standards are applicable to any type of evaluation regardless of the institutional context, the approach chosen or the specific topic or theme, and regardless of whether it is an external, internal evaluation or a self-evaluation. The SEVAL Standards are not designed for evaluating persons.
